This document explains how to block or unblock a wired or wireless client device using the Pronto Cloud Controller.
Blocking a client prevents the device from:
Accessing Internet
Communicating with LAN devices
Connecting to Wi-Fi SSIDs
Using network bandwidth
This is useful for security control, misuse prevention, troubleshooting, and network policy enforcement.
Scope
Applies to:
Pronto Wi-Fi Router (wired & wireless clients) for example PC61
Pronto Access Points (wireless clients) For example PC26
Cloud-managed SMB networks (retail, restaurants, offices)
Method 1 — Block / Unblock from Clients Page (Recommended / Quick Method)
Step 1 — Open Clients Page
Navigate to:
Monitor → Clients
Select filter:
Live Clients
Connected Clients
All Clients
Step 2 — Identify the Client
Search using:
MAC Address
IP Address
Host Name
Verify correct device before taking action.
Step 3 — Block the Client
In the Action column, click: Block
Expected Result:
Client status changes to BLOCKED
Device loses network connectivity immediately
Cannot reconnect to SSID or access LAN
Step 4 — Unblock the Client
Go to:
Monitor → Clients → Blocked Clients
Click: Unblock
Expected Result:
Client regains connectivity
Device can reconnect normally
New DHCP lease may be issued
Method 2 — Block / Unblock from Network Device Page (Advanced / Device-Level Method)
This method is useful when:
Troubleshooting specific AP or Router
Checking which device the client is connected to
Isolating issues at device level
Step 1 — Open Network Device
Navigate to:
Monitor → Network Devices
Click on:
Router (PC61) OR
Access Point (PC26)
Step 2 — Open Clients Tab
Inside the device page:
Click Clients Tab
You will see:
Connected client list
MAC address
IP address
Signal strength / Port
Usage
Step 3 — Block the Client
Click: Block
Expected Behavior:
Client is immediately disconnected from that device
Traffic from that MAC is dropped
Client cannot use network services
Step 4 — Unblock the Client
Return to:
Monitor → Clients → Blocked Clients
OR from device client list (if shown)
Click: Unblock
Important Behavior Notes
Wireless Client Blocking
Client cannot associate or pass traffic
Useful for Guest misuse or unauthorized users
Wired Client Blocking
Ethernet link stays UP
But network traffic is denied
Device cannot reach gateway or internet
Best Practices
✔ Always confirm MAC before blocking
✔ Avoid blocking POS / payment terminals without verification
✔ Use device-page method for targeted troubleshooting
✔ Inform site staff before blocking production devices
