Add Device to Inventory – Configuration Guide (Pronto Cloud)

Overview

The Add Inventory page is used to register and onboard new devices into the Pronto Cloud Controller.

A device must be added to Inventory first before it can be:

  • Managed

  • Configured

  • Monitored

  • Assigned policies and SSIDs

Once added, the device becomes part of the selected network and will automatically receive network configurations.

Navigation Path

Login to Pronto Cloud Controller

Go to:

Configure → Add Inventory

Add Inventory Form (Main Section)

This section allows administrators to add one or multiple devices into the cloud inventory.

Field Description

Vendor Type

  • Select the vendor or device category

  • Example: PIAP

This helps the controller apply the correct configuration templates and compatibility settings.

Device(s)

  • Enter the MAC Address of the device

  • Multiple devices can be added

Ways to add multiple entries:

  • Press Enter after each MAC

  • Use Comma ( , ) to separate MAC addresses

Example:

00:0C:66:10:xx:xx
00:0C:66:16:xx:xx

Each MAC address is validated before submission.

Network

  • Select the network where the device will be deployed

After assignment, the device will automatically inherit:

  • SSID configuration

  • Security settings

  • RF profile

  • VLAN configuration

  • Firewall / ACL policies

⚠️ Important:
A device can belong to only one network at a time.

Actions

Save

  • Registers the device in cloud inventory

  • Assigns the device to the selected network

  • Device will start syncing configuration once it comes online

Cancel

  • Discards entered details

  • Exits the Add Inventory page

Verification

After saving the device:

  • Navigate to
Configure → Organization → Inventory List

Here you will be able to see the newly added device.

You can verify:

  • MAC Address

  • Serial Number

  • Assigned Network

  • Device Status

Best Practice

✅ Always verify the MAC address from device label or box
✅ Add devices to correct network to avoid wrong configuration push
✅ Add devices to inventory before onsite installation for faster deployment
✅ Use bulk MAC entry for large deployments
