This guide covers how to create a radius configuration and link external captive portal to Pronto Networks hardware.

Step 1: Configure Radius Settings:

Begin by navigating to Organization>Radius Configuration page. In this section, please configure your Authentication and Accounting servers. Note, this step only needs to be configured once.

How to configure Radius settings:

  • Under RADIUS Name field, name your RADIUS profile.

  • Provide the RADIUS IP, Port, and Secret.

  • Select the Type as RADIUS (Authentication server) or RADIUS Accounting (Accounting Server).

  • Select the Create RADIUS button

Please configure both the RADIUS Authentication and Accounting Server following the above steps.

Step 2: Configure Captive Portal Settings:

Once you have added your Radius servers, navigate to the network section to apply the captive portal. In this scenario, we will be applying the captive portal to a VLAN. Create or edit your Captive portal VLAN

Once in the VLAN menu, navigate to the Captive portal menu and click enable

This will expand a number of Captive portal settings, including:

  • Radius Authentication Server : Here select the Radius Auth server configured in the Radius Configuration Page

  • Radius Accounting Server : Here select the Radius Acct server configured in the Radius Configuration Page

  • MAC Auth: To enable MAC Auth request on the user device association, enable the MAC Authentication

  • Default interim update time : Enter in seconds, or leave the default values

  • Default idle timeout : Enter in seconds, or leave the default values

  • Splash URL: Add the URL for the login page of the captive portal

  • Success URL: Select the URL where the customer should be redirected once they login. For specific URL, select a different URL option and enter the URL

  • Walled garden / ranges : set the walled garden domains. You can enter multiple by pressing comma(,).

  • Per user QoS : To set the max bandwidth allocated for a captive portal user configure this parameter. Note, a value of 0 means this feature is disabled.

Once the configuration is done, click Update.

Note: For this configuration to reflect on a wireless SSID, please apply your VLAN to your SSID to enable the captive portal.
